To be clear, I do not care if I sell this one, as I have a bit of a connection with it after going through the build on it. It is also a show horse of sorts for www.pinballplating.com when we do booths and that sort of thing. But I figured we could at least share it here on the site.
I love trying something different. I've always been the guy that's bored with the same ol stuff. Cars, games, whatever, I just like to see something different. Being that we do the www.pinballplating.com thing, I've been itching to try some different things. One of the things I've been wanting to try out is a plating that I haven't seen anyone use yet on a pinball.

With this in mind, I've been waiting for just the right machine, something different that doesn't get the love it should, to come along and try this with. But the colors have to be just right for the first. So last year, while on a pick, grabbing a Tales from the Crypt, a Data East Batman, and a bunch of arcades, I grabbed a Frankenstein. I didn't think a lot of it really, just another pin I hadn't had before, so I always like a new challenge. This one had been hacked up ten ways to Christmas. At some point, getting close to Christmas, I decided we should start on it. I had loaded it early one day, and was riding around with it and was thinking about the colors on it, wondering what kind of powder would look good on it. Then I had a thought, could this be my first copper game? As I stopped off with our platers, I asked if I could borrow anything they had that had some size to it, that was done in polished copper. Copper is one of the platings under chrome (real chrome like we do - not the cheap junk). They had a 30 inch motorcycle wheel that we took outside and help up to this cabinet. I know they thought I was crazy, but it's what I needed to see to help me envision what I wanted to do, and I believed it would work.
From there we went though the machine, replacing the broken stuff, having our friend, Mr. Chestnut go through all the electronics and sorting the wiring back out. We tore it completely down, shopped it and began to decide how much metal in this thing should get the copper treatment.
Lots of time and energy, and of course some money too, brings us to the jewel you see here. We first unveiled it at TPF this year and it was a huge hit with everyone, including it's designer John Borg, who was SOOO incredibly kind to come by our booth with a friend of ours and spend 45 minutes or so with us during a lull in the show. He wanted to pull the playfield out of it, make a few adjustments himself, and proceed to tell me all the stories you'd never know about this title, unless you were the guy who designed it! He was very kind, played the game a bit, showed us some modes I didn't know it had, signed it, and was then off to a meet and greet he was supposed to be at sooner than he thought, lol. A big thanks to John for spending that time with me, it meant a great deal. Also, a huge thanks to all who put some work in on this thing. Thanks to Vince for all the man hours and our platers for making pinball dreams come true. Even though we put a ton of work into it before leaving Nashville, it also took Matt (The Snowman) York some serious work the whole first day of the show to completely get it dialed in.
